We have junkers wooden flooring that has a laquered finish . Is this able to be sanded back and restained? it is looking a bit tired and Ideally l would like it to be slightly darker than the pearwood finish that it currently is.

Can junkers wooden flooring be sanded back and stained

Rental places will instruct u on how to successfully remove old finish from ur hardwood floors. They're sell u the various grits of sandpaper & rent the two kinds of sanders that u will need. (A belt sander for most of the room & an orbital sander for the edges & corners.)

When u go off to the DYI store, ask about different stains & finishes. I have never stained any floor that I have sanded, preferring, instead to just coat it the three times with a water-based urethane. There r products that claim to be two-in-one (stain & urethane). I would not recommend them since u may not like the effect & a correction is just that much more difficult to do.

Hardwood floors boost the resale value of a home tremendously & r well worth the time & effort.

If it is a true wood floor and not a laminate, than you can rent a commercial sander, remove the old finish and put a new coat on. This is a time consuming job. If you are not familiar with this type of dyi I would suggest you do some research into what all it will take to do the job.
