l put Surface Source laminite flooring down and l have two spots in my floor tha keep bowing up. l have more flooring but l do not wanna have to take up the whole floor to replace it, and l do not want it to do it again. What could be causing this?

How do I fix laminte flooring that is bowing up

Step 1

To fix a section of ur floor that is bowing up, u will need to decrease the tension among the boards. They buckle or rise, due to an increase in tension around the wall. The floor has expanded due to time or weather, & there is no more room to expand.

Step 2

Remove the molding that surrounds the laminate using a hammer or screwdriver. Save the molding for replacement after the repairs.

Step 3

Remove the spacers that were set in place during installation. These provide support between the wall & the first board of laminate.

Step 4

Install smaller spacers & then gently press down on the peak. If it does not disappear, allow the floor to settle & expand on its own.

Step 5

Replace the molding using a hammer to pound it back into place.

Step 6

Conversely, if u have a gap between boards, increase the spacers at the wall.

Hope that solves ur problem.

Most often this is caused by the laminate s natural swelling and movement and the cut or cuts to a stationary fixture ( wall or cabinet or such) Causing a buckel in the flooring..
Find a tight spot by removing the base or shoe molding and recut effected boards to relieve the pressure. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
